About Us
Welcome to the City of West Point! Our city is defined less by boundaries on a map than by the sense of shared values our residents hold dear. We take pride in maintaining a wholesome lifestyle, rich in cultural history, along with a deep commitment to the preservation of our environment and a progressive approach to local business.
The historic community of West Point, which was settled in 1834, is nestled in the southeast corner of the great state of Iowa, in Lee County. The predominately German community with a population of nearly 1,000 sets on a hill 9 miles inland from the Mississippi River. The original woodland, serving as hunting grounds to the Sauk and Fox Indians, bridges the south-side of the community. And the prairie lands, which are now some of the richest farming land in the Midwest.
